Faye Donalda Leslie
1935-2023
The passing of Faye Donalda (Cooke) Leslie 87, wife of the
late Francis M. Searles and Allen W. Leslie, occurred at her residence
in Back Bay NB, on December 22,2023. Born in Back Bay, on December 29,
1935, she as the daughter of the late Presley E. and Lucy H. (French)
Cooke.
A loving mother, step-mother and grandmother, she is survived
by her only son, Douglas (Barb) Searles, of Back Bay NB; grandson
Jerrett Searles (Tracy) of Rothsay NB; step-children: Sandra Theriault
(Harold) of Back Bay NB, Kevin (Bev) Leslie of Letang NB, and David
(Caroline) Leslie of Alberta; great grandchildren: Jasmine, Samuel and
Alexis Searles; sister in law Melva Howard of Minnesota; chosen
sibling Brenda Lee Wright, as well as several nieces, nephews, and
cousins. In addition to her parents and her husbands Francis and
Allen, she was predeceased by stepdaughter Connie Holmes, and her
brothers, Clinton Howard, Robert “Bobby” Howard and Johnny
Leavitt.
Faye worked her entire career at Connor’s Brothers
in Back Bay until her retirement. In her early years Faye played
piano, as well as faithfully doing her daily crossword puzzles. She
was smart as a whip. A big part of her daily life was her daily
interactions with her cousin and best friend Phyllis Cooke, whom she
loved so much and on December 22,2023, they both passed through
heavens gates together.
Faye had a strong love for her son Doug, and cherished her
grandson Jerrett and her chosen son Timothy Cooke. She loved her
church family, and her relationship with God. She will be sadly missed
by her family and all that knew her.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with
Faye’s wishes there will be no visitation. A graveside
service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery on Wednesday,
December 27,2023 approximately 3:30 PM, following the interment of her
beloved best friend and cousin Phyllis Cooke with Rev. Gordon Cooke
officiating. In Faye’s memory, donations to Charlotte County Extra
Mural or a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated by the family.
