Eugene “Gene” Edward Corning
1952-2023
The passing of Eugene “Gene” Edward Corning,
husband of the late Joan Marie (Johnson) Corning, of Elmsville NB
occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on
November 19, 2023. Born in St. Stephen NB on January 5, 1952, he was a
son of the late Donald E. Corning and Josephine A. (Gillmor)
Corning.
A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother,
Gene is survived by his two daughters: Tabatha Corning of St. George
NB and Ashley Corning (Kyle Creighton) of Pocologan NB; grandchildren:
Tansy Barker, Stella Barker, Jed Creighton and Coleson Creighton; one
great-granddaughter: Elsie Jean Biggar; his siblings: Ross (Karen)
Corning and Louise (Stanley) McGrattan both of St. George NB; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to retirement, Gene worked mostly in the Forestry
Industry, including Pulp and Paper. A simple man who often kept to
himself, Gene enjoyed living off the land at his home in Elmsville,
where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending his days sitting by
the river.
A graveside service will take place at the Christ Church
Cemetery, 660 Boyd Road, Rollingdam NB on Friday at 2:00 pm with
Pastors Brad and Caitlin Crick officiating. In
Gene’s memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to a
charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
