Carol “Bellmon” Pendleton
1932-2023
Surrounded by her loving family,
the death of Carol “Bellmon” (Newman) Pendleton, wife of the
late Keith Pendleton, occurred peacefully at her residence on Monday,
November 6, 2023. Born on Campobello Island on February 16, 1932, she
was a daughter of the late Merton and Viola Newman.
A loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and sister, Bellmon is survived by daughters: Anne
Leslie and Kathy Carpenter (Art); sons: Chris (Patty) and Kingsley
(Kelly); sister: Connie Fleet; special friends: Heather, Marilyn and
Gisele; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews
and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Keith; sons:
Loren “Laurie”, Vance and Jack; a daughter in infancy: Julie
Marie; brothers: Percy, Winslow and Neil; sisters: Katheryn, Eileen
and Fern.
Those of us who has the privilege
of being loved by Belle, miss her tremendously already. Yet we take
comfort knowing that our beloved Mom, Grammy, sister, aunt, and friend
is no longer separated from the love of her life, Keith. In her own
words; “We’ve been so happy together, Keith and I. We
have been so very lucky.” The family cannot help but acknowledge
our gratitude for the example of love we have been allowed to witness
over the years.
To say that Belle excelled at love
and generosity is an understatement. She was incredibly resourceful.
It is common knowledge that no one went hungry if she had anything to
say about it. Even if Tupperware was scarce, visitors could always
count on extravagant care packages of food (often stuffed into
newspaper tubes).
She could break up a raucous
wrestling match with nothing more than a steely gaze and a concealed
straight pin. All the while maintaining poise and elegance. She
possessed a rare combination of beauty and strength, in equal
measure.
Belle was a sympathetic ear and
sounding board for many. Always making the time to listen. If she
didn’t feel that her advice was satisfactory, she would
“call for back up”. Searching her impressive collection of
Ann Landers written gems of wisdom.
She is fondly remembered for her
exceptional love for children. Especially her children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy. Our lives have
been so blessed by her warmth and her love. By her steadiness and her
strength. By her kindness.
We cherish every memory. Until we
meet again.
The family would like to thank
both home support and Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural for the care and
assistance provided to Belle. Your devotion and compassion never went
unnoticed.
Arrangements in the care of the
St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George
NB. In keeping with Bellmon’s wishes there will be no
visiting. The interment will be held in the Fairhaven Community
Cemetery in spring 2024. In Bellmon’s memory, donations to a charity
of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
