Obituary
Todd Douglas Daly, born March 18, 1968 passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 7, 2023 of heart failure. Beloved son of Mertiece (Verner) Daly and John Douglas Daly. He was predeceased by his father, sister Brenda, brother Timothy, and infant sister Mary Francine, paternal and maternal grandparents.
Todd grew up in East Saint John along with his siblings Dianne, Brenda (Boo), Wanda, John Andrew, Timothy, and Tammy . He lived on the west side for a few years but returned to his senses and moved back east.
A quiet man of few words. He was a rough, tough, beer drinking, truck driving Harley riding welder with a huge heart.
A recent article stated swearers were more intelligent. Todd was a feckin’ genius. His nieces and nephews never lacked for spending money. They simply spent an hour with Uncle Todd, collecting a quarter for every f bomb.
He considered himself a great hunter and he would take his gun for a walk every fall. Todd, his truck and his guns loved the solitude of the woods.
A good son, Todd would visit his mother regularly. Mom would save the daily papers, which he would read from cover to cover, followed by lunch of leftovers and a long nap on Mom’s couch.
Since July of 2018 he spent every long weekend with our sister Boo after the passing of her husband.
Todd was a man of few words. A curse, a bit of mumbling and you knew how he felt. But he never ended a conversation with his Mom and sisters without a “Love ya.”
After retirement he found his voice. He would call and talk none stop about gardening.
There will be many stories told about Todd in the days to come, and one phrase will be repeated time and again. How good he truly was. Todd was a good son, a good man, a good friend, a good co-worker and a good brother. And none of us could ask for anything more.
As per Todd’s wishes there will be no funeral, no fuss, and no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
