Shirley McNeill Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Shirley Anne (Johnston) McNeill, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 14th, 2024. Born 1935, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Harvey and Annie (Shannon) Johnston. Shirley was a member of the Red Hatters and the Carleton Curling Club. She loved to get together with family at crib tournaments, club and family reunions. She enjoyed spending time at her camp on Mackin Lake with her family. She loved to swim, kayak, read a good book, and sit around the camp fire. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her sons Frank McNeill (Pam) and Malcolm McNeill, daughters Anne Morrow (Terry), Christine McNeill, Martha McNeill, Elizabeth Davidson (John), Barbara Craig (Johnpaul) all of Saint John; sister Donna Daggett (Larry) of Lorneville, sister-in-law Betty Johnston, brother-in-law Dan McNeill (Barb) ; grandchildren Timothy, Anthony (Carolann), Stephanie (Derreck) , Erin, Emily, Andrew (Katlyn), Nicholas (Emily), Bailey (Coady) and Ryan; great grandchildren Sebastian, Katlyn, Lily, Jacob, Annicka, Alyssa, Dylan, Abel, and Parker; as well several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Frank, brothers Donald, Burton, Raymond, Earle “Bud” and sisters Vera, Connie and Eleanor.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, January 18th from 3 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Friday, January 19th at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Shirley may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, The Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
