Sharon Schima Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Sharon Lynn Schima announces her passing, which occurred November 30th, 2023, at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by her husband and children following a long, fierce, and unfair battle against cancer.
Sharon was born July 1st, 1956, to John and Bette (Mallory) Shannon. Her childhood was spent in Redhead, Saint John where she had many fond memories of neighbours and friends. In 1980 Sharon met her husband, Wayne. They married in Ontario then settled in Rothesay where they raised their two children. Sharon, a born nurturer with a maternal heart and soul stayed home to raise her children then to her absolute delight helped raise her grandchildren and “adopted” grandchildren Jack and Sophia.
In her spare time Sharon had a passion for writing short stories which she loved to read aloud at family gatherings. The undefeated champion Sharon loved a good game of scrabble. Often hard to get a hold of Sharon was always on the phone chatting with her baby sister Traci or daughter Melissa. She never missed an opportunity to be with family and loved her many drives/adventures with her husband and mother.
Besides her mother Bette, Sharon will be greatly missed but her doting and dedicated husband Wayne, loving children Shane (Natasha) & Melissa (Nick), the lights of her life, grandchildren Noah, Oliver and Emmy. She is survived by sisters Debbie, partner in crime Wendy, Wanda, Kelly and beloved baby sister Traci and brothers Terry and Jamie, brother-in-law Shawn as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sharon was predeceased by her father John, mother-in-law Catherine, niece Meghan and nephews Rory and Colin.
Sharon’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all people who cared for her over her 15-year battle with cancer. A special thank you to all staff on the palliative care unit and to all the special staff/volunteers at Bobby’s hospice. Thank you so much to Dr. Emily Love who brought mom much needed comfort in her last weeks. Everyone’s unbelievable kindness and support will never be forgotten.
Per Sharon’s request, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, from 6 – 8 pm. All are welcome.
