Obituary of Mabel Barbara Elizabeth Dort
With heavy hearts, the family of Mabel Dort announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, September 29, 2023. Born February 12, 1938, in Canso, NS, she was a daughter of the late Basil and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Parker.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Paula Walker (Dan); sons: Donald (Charlotte), Harold Jr. (Karen), and Andy; grandchildren: Jodi, Steven, Michael, Nathan, Susan, Jeremy, Zachary, Danielle, and Jasmine; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Frank; and sisters, Rita Johnston, and Jean Jenson (Ernie); sisters-in-law: Gloria (Brian), Terry, and Lauretta; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her husband, Harold, and her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her brothers: James (Audrey), Reg (Margaret), Ernie (Loretta), and Mike (Denise); sisters: Geraldine Horne (William), Marjorie Hammer (Robert), Bertha Baker, and Eva Gordon (Jimmy); grandson, Christopher; and daughter-in-law, Tammy.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 9 am to 10 am, at which time a Funeral Liturgy will be held in Brenan’s Chapel, with a reception to follow. A private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the H.O.P.E. Centre.
