Erma Ferguson Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Erma Joan (MacDonald) Ferguson, announce her passing at The Church of St John & St Stephen Nursing Home, Saint John NB on January 6, 2024. Erma was born on May 2, 1930, in Brownsville Maine, and was the daughter of the late Albert Hiram and Mary Kercilla (Howe) MacDonald. She and Robert (Bob) married in 1951 and lived a life full of joy and excitement. She loved her camping, her church, and her great friends and was vibrant and active into her 90s. In fact, her cardiologist commented once that he had no baseline for a normal blood pressure because not many 90 year olds stroll into their doctors office like her!
Erma enjoyed every moment with her family and took great pleasure spending time with her grandchildren and their families. Erma is survived by her children Wilson MacDonald (Lorraine), Robert Ferguson, Judy Williams (Glynn) and Herbert Ferguson (Tina); seventeen grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her sisters Anna Arsenault (Lucien) of Red Bank, Dorothy Campbell of Fredericton, Willa Cramm of Saint John. Erma was predeceased by her parents, husband Robert, daughter Dianne Phillips, great-grandson Brandon, and sisters Elizabeth, Irene, Inez and Rosella.
Erma’s family would like to thank the staff at The Church of St John & St Stephen Nursing Home for their kindness, compassion and friendship. It takes special people to do the work you do, especially throughout Covid, and you are greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Family and friends will be received on Thursday January 11 2024 from 12-2 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 pm. A private family burial of ashes will follow at a later date.
