David Harris Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Gerald Harris on January 17, 2024, at Shannex – Embassy Hall with his loving family by his side. He was born in Saint John on July 7, 1943, to the late Gerald and Marion (Heans) Harris and was the loving husband to his late wife, Mary Louise (McGrath) Harris.
David was a very faithful member of the church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 6595; on the Board of Directors of Father Eugene O’Leary Seniors Complex. He was an avid volunteer, spending every Thursday evening delivering and collecting for TV BINGO; volunteering at Loch Lomond Villa; he also volunteered his time with the Glen Falls PALS program providing hot lunch every day. He loved flea markets. He and Mary went to flea markets and yard sales all the time – David went more to socialize than anything. He loved to camp and he was an involved father, grandfather. He was a loud and boisterous person who could talk to anyone. David was a kind, caring and giving man who loved his Tim Hortons, his Lord and spending time with the people he cared about. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Gerry (Melissa Mailman); his daughter, Margaret Anne (Steven Green); his grandchildren, Cathleen and Kayla; his great grandson, Evan.
David was an only child. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Mary Louise.
His family greatly appreciates the care and kindness that David received at Shannex – Embassy Hall during his stay.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 23 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will take place on Sunday from 3-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Ann’s Church (St. Ann and Joachim’s Parish) on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11am, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
