Carolyn King Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Ruth (Brown) King, loving wife of Harley King, wish to announce her passing into the presence of her Saviour, which occurred at the Loch
Lomond Village on February 8, 2024. Born in Saint John, October 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Myrtis (Osborne) Brown.
Carolyn was raised in her beloved St Martins community, where the love of her life Harley captured her heart at a young age. She graduated from the St Martins Superior High School and worked at CIBC in Saint John and Ontario. They soon married and raised four Children in East Saint John and she gave up her career to raise her family. Our Mom lived out her faith by helping others and lived by the motto, that love is helping others who are unable to return the favour. She volunteered at many church suppers and events at the St Martins Baptist Church, was available to pray for people in need, and she and Harley assisted in delivering meals to Outflow for 10 years. She was a youth leader at Forest Hills Baptist Church for many years and loved her time volunteering at Camp Tulakadik. Our doors in East St John and St Martins were always open, and daily there was a friend or family member who dropped in for tea and a chat, receiving support that she freely gave. She raised her kids to strive to be their best, independent and her love for her grandchildren was immense. When she no longer had young children at home, she volunteered at Forest Hills Elementary school for twenty years, assisting children who needed extra help in learning to read and write and throughout her life would canvas for donations of support for various charities, especially passionate about the Fundy Trail Cancer Walk. She was an avid knitter and many family and friends wore lopy sweaters knit with her love.
Besides her beloved husband Harley of 62 years, she is survived by her children; Lisa (Troy) Loughery, Lindsay (Emily) King, Lana (Andrew) Clarke, and Lori (Jamie) Patterson, sisters; Nancy (Gerald) Brown and Sharon (Eric) Fawcett, grandchildren; Andrew, Alex (Sarah), Colin, Spencer (Isabelle), Fraser (Emily), Matthew, Jonah, Caleb, Josiah, Grace, and Sadie, her great-grandson, Grayson, her beloved Aunt, Ilie (Osborne) Crowther, her best friend Gail Bennett, along with her many special cousins, nieces and nephews who fondly knew her as Karky.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Rebecca Loughery, and her brothers Raymond and Donald Brown.
Many thanks to the family and friends who visited Carolyn in these later years and the staff of Cedar House at the Loch Lomond Village that provided the care and love she needed during her final journey with Dementia. Your love for her was so evident.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506) 646-2424. Visitation will take place at the St Martins Baptist Church, from 2-4 and 6-8pm, on Monday, February 12, 2024. The funeral service will take place at the St Martins Baptist Church at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with interment at the St Martins Community Cemetery. Remembrances made to the St Martins Baptist Church, the Fundy Trail Cancer Walk (SJRH Foundation) or a donation of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
