We are deeply,
deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gerry
David Burke of Riverview that occurred at The
Moncton Hospital on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Valdine
Burke Wright and the late Lennie Burke.
After graduating from Riverview
High School and the Moncton NB Community College
from the Computer/Electronics Engineering Technology
Telecommunications course, Gerry sought employment in high tech
industry gaining employment with KLA, San Jose, CA (Silicone
Valley) specializing in semi-conductors, serving
various USA companies like Intel as well as various high-tech
companies in Taiwan, Singapore, and the French Mediterranean.
He truly enjoyed travelling to these far-off
countries, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Gerry was very active
in Riverview Minor Hockey in his youth once scoring 74 goals as a
defenceman. As he progressed through the ranks Gerry was offered a
player card for Moncton U18 Flyers but decided he desired to play for
Riverview High for the opportunity to go to Hungary with the team; an
opportunity his mom said he couldn’t pass up.
Following his stint
travelling the World (as he put it) Gerry returned home where
he gained employment with Irving Personal Care,
Moncton.
He is deeply
and dearly missed by his stepfather Thomas
Wright; his son Dustin; stepsisters Debora (Jansen); Kellie (Jason),
his half-sister Karen (Burke) Ransom and his Aunt
Linda (Burke) Steele of Pefferlaw, Ontario.
Gerry was forever grateful to his relations on his
mother’s side in particular, Aunts Linda
Cormier, Janice Mazerolle and truly appreciated all the help and
devotion they showed him as well as all the many
aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Mazerolle
side.
Respecting
Gerry’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or service. Cremation has taken place, arrangements are
entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330
Whitepine Road Riverview (506-869-2007). Donations in
Gerry’s memory may be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice.
