Obituary
Kathleen Delahunt, 100 of Butler St. Moncton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Jacquet River NB, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Anne (Shannon) Hickey.
Kathleen attended St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of the CWL, past president as well as former treasurer of the Diocesan of the CWL. She was instrumental in the organizing of the Catholic Information Centre, which is still open today. Her hobbies included skating, dancing, knitting for family and donations to charity, roller skating, bridge, and spending quality time at the family cottage in Point du Chene.
Kathleen is survived by her children; Karen O’Brien (Frank), Brian Delahunt (Heather), Dianne Smith (Ed), Kevin Delahunt (Cheryl) Terry Delahunt (Patti) and Krista Sinton (Shawn), her Grandchildren, Christopher (Tania), Shawn (Kim), Scott (Carrie) Delahunt, Aaron O’Brien (Misty), Becky Miedema (Ian), Ryan Smith, John (Katie), Spenser and Glenn Delahunt, Kathleen Maroon (Rob), Katelyn MacDougall (Ian), Lauren Young (Alex), Stephanie and Melissa Sinton; her great grandchildren, Emma and Brady O’Brien, Jaclyn, Alexis, Madeline, Brayden, Quinn and Brianne Delahunt, William and Patrick Miedma, Aubrey Young, Nora, Ezra, Anna and Sawyer Delahunt, Jay and Maya Maroon, and Brynn and Leah MacDougall, her sister Monica (Harold) Bourque, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Delahunt (2020), sisters Iva, Inez, Ada and Theresa, brothers Owen, Evan and Irvin in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995). Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Holy Family Catholic Church (52 Falkland Dr. Moncton) on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11 am. Reception to follow. Interment, St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Irishtown.
