Helen Bond Obituary
Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Moncton Hospital on August 28, 2024 after a brief illness. She was mentally sharp and witty until her final sleep.
Helen was born and raised in Moncton N.B. by her parents Frank and Exelda Legere and was the youngest of four, with brothers Everett, Gerard and sister Bernice (George) Dallaire. She enjoyed her youth “biking everywhere” and “hanging out” at Parlee beach with friends. She lived in Belgium for 3 years before moving to Ontario for a total of 17 years, living most of her eventful life in Moncton and “the Bluff”, retiring from the Federal Government after more than 30 years. She married her soulmate, Gerry Bond, in 1989. She absolutely worshipped her adopted grand-dog, Gromit. She loved fishing, wintering in Florida, traveling, playing weekly Bingo and occasionally robbing the Vegas casinos whenever possible.
Helen is survived by her four children, Michael (Karen) Burke of Upper Musquodoboit N.S., Elaine (Roy) Fitzpatrick of West Kelowna, Richard (Valerie) Burke of Moncton, and Patrick (Grace) Burke of Calgary. She was proud to have 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Gerry Bond in February 2023, and stepdaughter, Catherine (John Holdom), ON.
Her family would like to express our appreciation for the excellent care and compassion she received from paramedics, firemen, and Moncton Hospital Critical Care and Palliative Care departments.
At Helen’s request there will be no funeral or service. Arrangements are in the care of Fergusons Funeral Home 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton, NB (506-858-1995). Online condolences for the family may be shared at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
