Obituary
Darren E. Slater, 53, of Moncton, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He is the son of Sheryl “Sherry” Slater (nee Robinson) and the late William “Bill” Slater.
Darren has proudly spent the last 20 years with J.D. Irving, most recently as Director, Process Improvement and Optimization with Cavendish Agri Services. He leaves behind a legacy of continuous improvement and operational excellence that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Darren’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife, kids, friends and family and he was always happy to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered as the problem solving Mr. “I know a guy” who always had a project on the go. Darren loved fishing, kayaking, playing hockey with his buddies, and working on his Buick Skylark with his son. His kindness, sense of humour and devotion to his friends and family at every stage of life made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Darren will be sadly missed by his wife, Barb Slater (nee Drew); daughter, Robyn Slater (Josh Robinson); son, Keegan Slater; mother, Sherry Slater; sister, Kristy Smith (Shane); his mother and father-in-law, Irma and Gilbert Drew; sisters in law, Sandra Morehouse (Don) and Brenda Malone (Peter); as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many lifelong friends. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
A time to celebrate and share memories of Darren’s life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Fergusons Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995).
In memory of Darren, memorial contributions to CARMA Cat Rescue Moncton would be appreciated. This organization was close to his heart as he and Barb had recently enjoyed fostering many kittens.
