Obituary of Joseph Paul Charles Mercier
Joseph Paul Charles Mercier, 76, passed away August 26, 2024 in Minto, New Brunswick.
Born April 18, 1948 in North Sydney, NS he was the son of the late Ferdinand (Shorty) and Florence (Legere) Mercier.
Charles started work at the age of 13 for Roy Mills, he began as a waterboy and an oiler for the drag lines. Then in 1969 he began his career with NB Coal an became a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a coal miner for 39 years, when he retired in 2008. He was longtime member of (UMVA) United Miners of America. A 30 year member of (K of C) Knights of Columbus. Dad’s one adventure of the week was going to church at St. Barbara’s Parish, every Saturday Night and he was a long-time member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Survived by his loving wife, Réjèanne (Johnson) Mercier; children, Monique Mercier – Brown (Rick), Paul Mercier (Cynthia) and Paulette Mercier – Fasquel (Mike); grandchildren, Chantal and Riley Mercier Brown, Taylor Agnew, Alisha Agnew (Ben) and Coralie Mercier; brother, Ferdinand Mercier (Pam); sister, Myrna Cormier (Roger); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass will take place 11:00AM Friday, August 30, 2024 from Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Minto. Interment will take place in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery. For those who wish, donations made to Saint Bridget’s Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family.
