It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Leigh-Anne McDougall, 59, of Shediac N.B., on April 1, 2024, at the
Moncton City Hospital.
Leigh-Anne was born September 3, 1964, at the Victoria
General Hospital in Fredericton, N.B. to George and Frances (Doherty)
McDougall.
Leigh-Anne graduated from Fredericton High School in 1982 and
worked many years as a Human Resources Officer at Marriot. She had
many roles at Marriot, but her favorites were the fundraising events
that she planned and participated in, such as the Pro Golf Fundraiser.
She also canvased for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian
Cancer Society.
Leigh-Anne was strong, resilient, hardworking, and
thoughtful, always reaching out with a helping hand when needed. She
could bounce back from any situation like no other. She loved
scrapbooking, a night out at the movie theaters, computers, and
shopping. Her biggest passion was traveling which took her to many
places including Switzerland Scotland, England and her favorite,
Ireland, which was a part of her “Doherty” heritage and held
a special place in her heart. She was a funny, kind, and loving soul
who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Leigh-Anne is survived by her sister, Shona Pittman (Colin),
St. Albans NFLD; Dixie Firlotte (Kirk) Minto N.B; Nephew Zachary
Firlotte (Margaret), Halifax NS; Niece Alyssa Peters (Evan),
Quispamsis N.B; Great Nieces Hayden and Sloan Peters; Great Nephew
George Firlotte; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be
fondly missed by her good friend Debbie Conway, and her children
Courtney and Curtis.
Leigh-Anne was predeceased by her parents George and Frances
(Doherty) McDougall of Fredericton, NB; maternal grandparents John and
Madeline (Arnold) Doherty, Fredericton, NB; Fraternal grandparents
Frederick and Elizabeth (Cabel) McDougall, Chatham N.B; and her fur
babies that she loved with all her heart, Sancho, Chico, Tango, and
Patch.
A memorial service will be held in memory of Leigh-Anne at
Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, N.B.
on Saturday July 20, 2024, at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fredericton
SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice, in memory of Leigh-Anne.
