It is with great sorrow that
our family announces the passing of our dad, Alphonsus
Bourgeois.
A veteran of the Canadian
Armed Forces and longtime resident of Fredericton, NB, passed away on
July 10, 2024, with family by his side. Alphonsus, or Al as he was
known to many in the area, was born October 10, 1940, to John and
Annie (Gallant) Bourgeois on Woods Island, NFLD. At a young age, Al
enlisted in the Armed forces many years ago and travelled to many
countries during his time in the army. He took many pictures and
shared stories with his family and friends. He loved meeting up with
fellow veterans to share stories and have good laughs about his time
in the army. Al began his journey serving in the Black Watch first and
then later worked in infantry at Base Gagetown, NB as a corporal. Al
loved his time in the army and proudly marched in parades with other
veterans and honoring local fallen soldiers, he was also very active
with the Legion. Al was also a lover of music and enjoyed playing his
guitar. After retirement, Alphonsus enjoyed spending as much
time with his family as possible, especially with his grandchildren.
Al was loved by many and made everyone feel like family, he treated
his grandchildren’s friends as his own
grandchildren.

death by his son, Wayne Bourgeois, his wife Lorna Bourgeois, his
parents and all his brothers. He’s survived by his daughters
Peggy (Ted) Brooks, Tanya Bourgeois, his son Bradley Bourgeois, as
well as 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He also leaves
