Patricia Fisher
1947-2024
PATRICIA LEE FISHER passed away peacefully August 22, 2024 with her
family at her bedside, born Sept.6, 1947 in Hartland NB, oldest child
of Jessie and Roderick DeMerchant of Stickney NB. Loving wife of 52
years and best friend to Richard R. Fisher. Predeceased by her
husband, Richard Fisher. Brother in Laws Clinton Fisher, Earl
Tompkins, Olys Ebbett, Sister in Law Jennie-Grace Fisher and nephew
Charles Fisher. She leaves to mourn 3 special sons Ritchie (Wendy),
Dana (Berdie) and Randy (Amanda). Grandchildren Kately and
Bradley(Ritchie and Wendy), Denise and Andrew(Dana and Berdie) and
Ruthie and Rhys(Randy and Amanda). Brothers Terry DeMerchant
(Caroline) North Queensbury, Dennis DeMerchant (Jane)
Florenceville-Bristol. Sister in laws Rowena Tompkins
Florenceville-Bristol and Arlene Ebbett Stickney. Many nephews and
nieces, David, Nora, Debra, Janet, Nelda, Dana, MaryAnn, Douglas,
Donald, Alden, Allen, Ivan, Jackie, Tammy, Cristy, and Jason. She
loved having them visit over the years and watching them grow into the
adults they are today. As well as many cousins.
Her grandchildren have provided many years of enjoyment and she was
very proud of all their accomplishments. Whether it was watching
Denise compete in gymnastics or hearing about the different things she
cooked and learned in school. Seeing Andrew play basketball and later
in life, talking about what he learned at university. Seeing Katelyn
show an interest in various crafts and working with children. Hearing
about all the adventures that Bradley would get into and showing a
great interest in all things mechanical. Watching Ruthie compete with
her horse Revv, graduating from High School, bringing her flowers and
getting ready to take that next big step. And seeing Rhys learn about
the farm and getting set for his first year of High School.
Patricia grew up in Stickney and spent her life helping Richard as he
drove transport, school bus and farmed. She was a dedicated Nurse for
most of her life. Spending the first 20 years (1969 to 1989)as an
RNA(LPN) in Bath working in various roles including pediatrics. And
over 30 years (1989 – until retired) in Physio Therapy, starting
in Bath and moving to Waterville when the new hospital was ready.
She loved to help people and was well known for her compassion. When
not working at the hospital, she was the one to keep the home fires
burning. Making sure her family was well cared for.
Never one to sit idle, she was a life-long member of the Stickney Rec.
Council becoming a member when it was first formed, making it the
success it is today. Always heavily involved in any activity that was
organized. From Harvest suppers to benefit breakfasts, Patricia
could be seen at every event. When she wasn’t cooking, she was
out looking for donations or funding to meet whatever goals that were
set. She was involved in 3 ‘Direct Sales’ organizations
over the years. Starting with Creative Circle selling Cross-stitch
kits, going to Jockey and Ava Gray to sell clothes and other items.
She was so good at Direct Sales with Creative Circle that she won a
trip to Jamica for having the most sales in her region. In the last
four years, Patricia joined two different quilting groups and
travelled to both Debec and Keswick Ridge. Making several new friends
and enjoying the time they spent making comfort quilts for those in
need. As well as joining a few Quilting retreats in Saint John.
Even though she worked hard alongside Richard, she always had time for
play as well. Including the trip to Jamica, she enjoyed 2 cruises, a
trip to the Dominican, and several trips to Cuba. She and Richard
would spend hours travelling around as both her and Richard loved to
see new places. First by snowmobile for winter fun for many years and
then to travel on a Goldwing to see the sites. She always checked to
see if there were others who wanted to travel with them and loved to
involve friends and family in their trips.
Patricia loved to have people around and took pictures at every event.
Whether it was going on a Snowmobile Poker Run, a trip to Grand Falls
on the bike, or just sitting around the house for a holiday event, she
was there with her camera. While the kids may have made it seem like
a pain, they all knew how much she cherished these times.
Special thanks for the excellent care she received at the Oncology
Department of the Upper River Valley Hospital, Saint John Regional
Hospital, URVH Radiology Department, URVH ER Department, the Pallative
Care Department , Extra Mural and URVH Nursing Staff. Also a specal
thank you to Dr. Bruce Lockhart, Dr. Stewart Lockhart and Dr.
