VERONICA IDA SAUNDERS (DELAGARD)
It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of my most beloved wife, Veronica Ida on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Chalmer’s Hospital in Fredericton, NB.
Veronica was born May 3, 1955 in Hamilton, Ontario to the late Ronald James Joseph Delagard and the late Ruth Harriett Landry. She was also predeceased by her only daughter Marie Bridgette Anne Delagard.
She is survived by her older sister Roxanne M R Pushie aka Landry (aka Roseanne Delagarde); not to mention many siblings, nieces and nephews; Lorena Boyce and Hazel Cosman (her mother’s first cousins) and life long best friends “Marilyn and Mike”.
Veronica enjoyed her many years as a member of Seafarers International and Upper Lakes where she worked as a chief cook; and not to forget her years as a Taxi Driver, in between sailing, for 5-0 Taxi in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Veronica was a very determined and brave person who after retirement enjoyed her years with her 17 horses and 32 dogs. Her pets were one of her greatest joys in life.
Veronica and I were married on March 21, 1999 in the town of Fort Erie by The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’i faith as per their sacred writings.
The following was part of our vows:
We will all verily abide by the Will of God
Over the past two years you have become my forever friend who shares in everything. A partner through the ups and downs that life may sometimes bring…
You’re the one I always turn to for when all is said and done, You’re my confidante, my lover, and my best friend, all in one.
It takes only a moment to say I love you, but it will take a life time to show you how very much.
I want to tell you how very much I love you, how loved you make me feel, how very much I need you how I depend on you to believe in me.
I want to tell you how much better a man I am for having your love and how proud I am to call you my wife.
There may never be a better way to tell you all these things than what we are doing today.
I want to make a promise to you that I will love, cherish and honor you by the Will of God for the rest of my life.
The above being said, it is with great sadness that I have to say good bye to my best friend, my confidant and love of my life. There will never be another like you.
To honour my wife’s request there will be no funeral or service. Special thanks to the staff at Chalmers Hospital for the loving care they provided. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Chipman Funeral Home Ltd. & Crematorium (506-339-6612). Memories and condolences may be shared through www.chipmanfuneralhome.ca.
