Clara Flanagan Obituary
Clara Flanagan (Shannon), our beloved Matriarch, at age 98 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept 4,2024. Born in Belledune on July 17th, 1926, Clara lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way. She was an AMAZING woman. We are grateful to have had so many years of memories.
Clara was a teacher for over 40 years, where she was adored by many of her students. “Our favorite teacher”, is a quote that has been said by many. She was also an award-winning poet with hundreds of poems, words of wisdom, and words to live by. She started painting after retirement and many a home in Belledune have her creations on their walls. Her most important role was being a MOM and Grandma. Family was everything. She mirrored in life what Jesus taught and she passed it on to others. “Be Kind, Treat everyone the way you wish to be treated, before you speak ill of someone put yourself in their shoes, Love unconditionally, and most importantly, BELIEVE”! Her faith was a huge part of her life, and in death we know she was rushed to the front of the class.
Everybody loved her and she will be missed by many but mostly by her family, Her children, Patrick, Andy (Patty), Emmie, Kathy (Laurie), Rita (Kevin), Jim (Bonnie) and Steve (Michelle). Many tears will also be shed by her 14 Grand children, her 20 great grand children and 1 Great Great Grand child.
Mom was greeted in heaven by her beloved daughter Joanie (2018), her husband Andrew (1993) her cherished Mom and Dad, as well as many siblings and friends that went before her. We know there was a huge festival when she arrived on the 4th of September 2024.
The family will be holding a wake at St. John the Evangelist Church on Monday Sept 9th from 6pm-8pm and Tuesday Sept 10th 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. The funeral will be held at St. Gabriel church on Wednesday Sept 11 at 11 am. Burial to follow
