Bathurst – It is with sadness that we the family announce the passing of Della Thibodeau, 82, of Bathurst, which occurred on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah (Hachey) Thibodeau.
She is survived by her two children: Jennifer (Gerald White) Cormier and Richard Cormier Jr., ” Rick ” both of Bathurst.
Three grandchildren: Jerica April Biseau, Kenneth Richard Cormier (Carolyn Train), and Kyle Patrick Cormier.
Two sisters: Betty Gault of Ontario and Francine White (Brian Arsenault) of Fredericton, NB.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers: Arthur Jr., Eldon “Matches”, Edgar, Raymond, Clifford “Kiffy”, Donald and Gordon.
Della was a devote Catholic, teaching Catechism for several years and becoming president of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Women’s League. She worked for the Federal Government for 19 years as a supervisor. She was very fair, well liked and had a great sense of humour. Keeping in touch with her co-worker’s years after retirement. She was seen as the rock of her family. Her children, grandchildren and siblings meant so much to her. She also kept close to her friends especially Joan Pettigrew who predeceased her in 2017.
There will be no visitation, funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. from Sacred Heart Cathedral on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
