On April 22, 2024 Ruth Wilson at the age of 93 passed away peacefully with her family at her side.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her sons Dwight (Linda), John (Tara) and her daughter Carol (Dean); her grandchildren Jennifer (Rodney), Bradley, Daniel (Kirsten), Jason (Hilary) and Dylan; her great-grandchildren Isley, Everett, Brielle and Arthur. She will also be remembered by sisters-in-law Marion Corley and Rosie Corley, her nieces and nephews, and her friend Maxine Watson. She was predeceased by her husband Fred and her five siblings.
Mum was born in Brandon, Manitoba July 12, 1930 and lived for the past 58 years in Selkirk, Manitoba. She worked at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre until she retired. As long as her health allowed, mum loved her daily walks. She was always up to date on the world news and enjoyed conversations about politics and the royal family. She liked reading and doing crosswords. She was fiercely independent and a very private person. What she was most proud of and brought her great joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the family cheerleader and a wonderful listener. She loved us all and we loved her dearly.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Selkirk Betel Home for their loving care of our mother for the past 3 1/2 years.
According to her wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Selkirk Betel Home would be greatly appreciated.
