Janet Cramer (nee Barclay)
July 8, 1934 – August 18, 2024
Peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 with her husband and three children Bill, Sandra and Steven by her side, Janet Barclay Cramer, age 90, passed away at the Gimli Community Health Centre in Gimli, Manitoba
Janet was predeceased by her parents Harry and Cora Easton Daly, her sister Elsie (William), her brother Harry and, her brother William (Doreen).
She is survived by her husband John, son Bill, daughter Sandra (Alan) and son Steven, her nephews Harry (Eleanor), Gordon (Fiona) and Kenneth (Kathleen), her niece Elspeth (Mark) , her sister-in-law Mary Brodie Daly and numerous aunts, uncles cousins grandchildren and great-grandchildren to numerous to mention.
Janet’s life began on July 8, 1934 in Helensburgh, Scotland
As a young girl she took Highland dancing and ballet. When she was 14, she started dancing in the chorus line in variety show in Scotland and Ireland. She was a choreographer at the age of 20.
She came to Canada in 1955. She worked at Winnipeg Photo for 26 years developing negatives and slides and then worked at Jostens working on school yearbooks.
She met her husband John in 1986 and they married in 1995. In 2005 they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary at Always Summer owned by Tom and Linda Brook. On December 15, 2010 they took up permanent residence in Gimli and have enjoyed being part of the community.
Janet was half Irish, half Scottish and had the most beautiful red hair. She also had a marvellous sense of humour which helped keep their marriage together for the 38 years they shared together.
Janet’s Memorial Service is pending.
