It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, on August 21, 2024 at the age of 80 years.
Sylvia will be lovingly missed by her husband Edward, sons Michael and Paul, daughter Christine (Ray), granddaughter Annie Gill (Anthony), great grandson Easton and still to come (November 2024), Theo.
She also leaves her sister Cecile (John) Paryniak, brother John (Marilyn) Boyachok, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that became family.
Mother was predeceased by her father John Boyachok in September 1976, mother Maria Boyachok in June 1999, her brother Michael in France, father in law and mother in law John and Anna Holowich.
Mom was born January 6, 1944 in Wunstorf, Germany. In 1948 the family travelled to Canada. Upon arriving they called Meleb, Manitoba their first home. Years later they moved to Winnipeg where she has been since. She attended Isaac Newton and Sisler Schools. In 1967 Mom was part of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Youth Club, where she met the love of her life, Ed. Mom and Dad were married on July 15, 1967 at BVM Parish. They were blessed with three children, Michael in 1969, Paul in 1970 and Christine in 1978. She had many different jobs throughout her life, from working in a clothing factory, Sears warehouse and making glass at Stewart N. King. Due to arthritis Mom had to stop working after Stewart N. King.
In October 1995, Mom was blessed with a granddaughter, Annie. She was so over the moon proud of her little angel. In 2022 she was again blessed with another little angel, this time a great grandson, Easton. This little boy could do no wrong in her eyes. She loved watching him dance with her cane (Charlie), or taking him for rides on her walker. In 2023 she gained a grandson when Annie and Anthony got married. She was so excited when she found our she could text him and he would reply. Earlier this year Mom was told a little secret that she was going to be a great grandmother to a second little boy. During her stay at Concordia Hospital these last few months she would always say how she couldn’t wait and needed to be here for him.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 10:00am at Blessed Virgin Mary Parish 965 Boyd Avenue Winnipeg. Prayers will be Tuesday, August 27 at 7:00pm also at the church. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
