Karen Clark Obituary
Karen Lynn Clark (Flay)
On Friday, November 1st, our family said goodbye to someone who brought so much sunshine into our lives. Karen Lynn Clark (Flay) of Minnedosa, MB, passed away peacefully at the age of 62, after facing her journey with courage and grace. She will be remembered for the love and care she shared with everyone she met.
Karen will forever be in the hearts of her mother, Etta Flay, her husband, Neil (“Jake”), and their beloved white fluffy dog, Marley. She was a loving mother to Jaiclyn (Bradley Parsonage) and Melissa (Martial Galay) and a cherished “Nama” to Brooks and Emery. Karen will be deeply missed by her best bud and sister, Debbie Haywood (Murray) and family [Michael (Gracie), Justine, and Katie], and Janice Robinson (Murray) and her children. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Marion, Bernice (Don), Audrey (John), Lois (Buzz), and brother-in-law Murray (Del), along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Karen was predeceased by her father, Morgan Flay, in 2000.
Karen was proud of the life she and Jake built with their beautiful daughters in Minnedosa. She cherished the milestones and accomplishments over the years and the quality time spent camping, downhill skiing, and attending many sporting events.
Karen was an “east ender” growing up in Brandon, MB, where she developed a passion for sports and coaching. Her time at Lakehead University solidified her desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Karen dedicated her career to improving the quality of life for those impacted by mental health. She brought her warmth and compassion to the Brandon Mental Health Centre, where she began working in 1985, and continued to make a difference until her retirement from the Centre for Adult Psychiatry in 2023.
Karen loved the warmth of a summer day and a hot cup of coffee in the early hours of the morning. She embraced life with enthusiasm. Nothing brought her more joy than happy hours and bonfires with friends, golfing, and watching her grandchildren grow.
We will remember Karen for her boundless kindness and empathy, her unwavering acceptance of others, her infectious sense of humor, her radiant smile, and her incredible strength and resilience. She touched the lives of so many, and her memory will forever be a source of inspiration.
It was Karen’s wish to have a celebration of life in the summer when the sun is shining. Details will be shared by the family once a date has been determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centre for Adult Psychiatry (Recreation department) or The Baldur Early Learning Centre.
