Glen Still Obituary
Glen Lawrence Still
April 19, 1930 – November 16, 2024
‘Glen’ Lawrence Still was born on April 19, 1930 to Peter and Lucy Still and raised with his brothers Donald, Harvey, Ray and Dale on the family farm at Isabella. He took his schooling at Isabella and then a mechanic course at Edmonton. Glen began farming with his dad and brothers in 1954.
On October 29, 1955 Glen married Margaret Attwood, the oldest daughter of Bill and Mattie Attwood. Glen and Margaret moved to the W1/2 of 24-15-26 in 1956, first renting the land and then later purchased the farm in 1961. Glen also worked part time at Gordon Ball’s garage in Birtle overhauling tractors, etc. It was on the farm that Glen and Margaret raised their family: Robert, Glenda and Ken. The children attended school at Isabella and Birtle.
In later years Glen and Robert farmed together, adding to their land base as well as keeping a herd of beef cows.
Glen served on the Isabella rink, hall and church boards. As well he enjoyed curling for many years. He also enjoyed card days at Isabella and Beulah, when life began to slow down on the farm.
Glen and Margaret moved to Parkissimo Lodge in 2018 where they enjoyed participating in the Miniota Drop-In Centre and other activities, as well as trips home to the farm and activities in the Isabella community. Glen and Margaret very seldom spent any time apart and did everything together throughout their 69 years of marriage, being that working n the farm, camping and family outings with their children and family, or old-time dances and everything that went on in the community of Isabella.
Surrounded by his family, Glen died on November 16th, 2024 at the Brandon Hospital. Glen is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Margaret, his children Robert (Brenda) Still, Glenda Still (Glenn Humphreys) and Ken (Jody) Still; by his grandchildren Candice (Brian) Armitage, Jason Still, Edward Tourand (Amanda Pierrard), Stephanie Tourand (Landon Fillion), Brandon, Geordan, Danica and Conan Still; by his great grandchildren Claire, Logan, Evan, Cole, Damien, Morgan, Jade, Lyam, Erica, Levi, Issac, Dillon, Waylon, Rhone; by sisters-in-law Sharon Attwood, Elaine (Jim Gibbons) and Bernice Still and many nieces and nephews.
Glen was predeceased by his parents Peter and Lucy Still, his siblings Donald (Marion), Harvey (Elsie), Ray, and Dale (June); his in-laws Bill and Mattie Attwood; his brother in-law Bob Attwood, and his grandson Eric Tourand.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 21st at 2:00 PM at the Miniota United Church with fellowship to follow at the Miniota Community Centre. A private family interment will take place at the Isabella Cemetery.
