Obituary of Eva Marjit Raduy
Suddenly and with broken hearts we said Goodbye to our sweet, brave and beautiful mom, mother-in-law and grandma. Before her passing at St Boniface Hospital on Wed March 13, she told her family how much she loved them and how proud she was of them.
She said goodbye to her daughter Eva Rondeau, son Steve (Susan) children Christopher, Sydney and Ethan, daughter Anita (Kelvin Johnstone), son Jerry (Tanis) children Alix and Bria, daughter Dina Lesyshen (Mike) children Layne and Brooke.
Eva was predeceased by her husband Tibor and most recently her dear son-in-law Rey. She is also survived by her sister in Miskolc, Hungary, Ica Hajdu and family, who regularly kept in touch despite the distance.
In 1957, Eva and Tibor embarked on a courageous journey, immigrating to Canada from Hungary. With their first born, Eva, and an empty suitcase filled with dreams, they built a rich and meaningful life.
Family responsibility, working hard and love for family were life lessons that our dad/grandpa taught us. In turn, our mom/grandma was our cheerleader and the positive force in our lives. Always encouraging us to be better or to be the best in whatever we do. She attended as many of the grandkid’s hockey games, swimming lessons/meets, downhill ski races, tennis games, piano recitals, Christmas concerts, high school and university graduations as she could. Boasting and bragging about her family was like a sport to her!
While our father filled our heads with life lessons, Mom filled our souls and comforted us with her incredible cooking. A full-time working Mom, there was always a meal on the table for her family. Even in her last days, she cooked for her family and worried what to cook for whoever was coming to visit her. She knew all our favorites. When asked for her recipes, we were convinced she left out the odd ingredient. The secret ingredient may be the “pinch of love” that made each dish taste so special, that it could not be replicated to her standard.
She also had the ability to tell it like it was! If there was something on her mind, she would be sure to tell you-good or otherwise, but it always came from a place of love. She was extremely curious and never wanted to miss any news, whether it was updates on friends, weather, daily news and entertainment, she well earned her nickname, Google!
Being at the cottage, walking, gardening, going for boat rides and chatting with neighbors gave her such peace and happiness. Matched with her love of life at the cottage was being in the mountains. Decades spent visiting Banff, Lake Louise, Invermere and Vancouver Island with her family. Hiking, sitting in the hot springs, fruit picking, animal watching, picnics and drinking wine amongst the spectacular mountains with her family brought her incredible joy.
Travelling on hot vacations, experiencing Disneyland with grandkids, sightseeing in Europe, New York and Las Vegas are just a few of the adventures that she loved going on. Always up for a new experience she never refused an opportunity to attend shows, Blue Bomber games and most recently a Jets game.
Eva did everything in her power to live life to its fullest and to be with her family. She was an incredible woman with boundless energy. Words can’t express how deeply she will be missed by her family and friends. Her voice, smile, laughter, and kisses on our cheeks will be missed but we know we will feel her in our hearts forever.
