Obituary of Joe Walsh
Joseph “Joe” Walsh of Charlottetown passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of Eileen (Callaghan). Father of Cathy Walsh (Roger), Darlene Battcock (John) and Dave (Lori).
Grampie Joe to Jessica, Andrew, Erin, Nate and Lauren. Brother of Reggie (Donna) and Sheila Chaisson (Frank). Brother-in-law of Leonard Gallant and Kevin Curley. Predeceased by his sisters Eileen Curley and Lorrena Gallant. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A farmer, accounts manager, community volunteer, gardener, woodworker, commissionaire, animal lover, Joe held a lot of roles, and he relished them all.
He loved working and he did his very best for his family and friends.
He was kind to many, sometimes at his own expense. He didn’t suffer fools and wasn’t afraid to tell things as they are. His needs were simple – a warm coat, a good sturdy pair of shoes or boots, tales of his grandchildren, a good meal paired with a large saltshaker, a cordless phone and a newspaper.
After a few years of challenging health conditions, he slipped away peacefully Saturday afternoon. We, as a family, are so grateful to so many friends and family but especially most recently the staff at Andrews of Charlottetown and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home in Stratford where a visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 pm until 1:45 pm followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Memorial donations may be made online to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation.
