It is with much sadness that the family of Joseph “Wilfred” Steele announce his sudden, but peaceful passing at his residence in Goose River on Monday, October 21st, 2024, one day before his 68th birthday.
Wilfred will be forever loved by his wife of 31 years, Melinda (nee Noel). He is remembered as a loving father to Anita and Aaron, and a doting grandfather, “Pop,” to Malcolm.
He is survived by his siblings Theresa (Bill) Lewis, Gerard (Muriel), and Mary, as well as numerous nephews and nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Wilfred is also survived by his mother-in-law Maddie (Joe) Saunders, and brothers-in-law Roland (Wanda) and John (Debbie) Noel. He was predeceased by baby Emma, parents Ambrose and Effie (MacKinnon), and father-in-law Allison Noel.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place at the Dr. Roddie Community Centre in St. Peter’s Bay on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5-8pm. A funeral Mass will be held in the St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, St. Peters, on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:00am with interment to follow in the parish cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Wilfred can be made to the St Peter’s Group of Alcoholics Anonymous or the St. Peter’s and Area Food Bank.
