It is with heavy hearts and sadness that, the family of Gary Peters announce his passing which occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his home in Red House/Eglington, PEI on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Born on June 25, 1956, he was aged 68 years.
Gary will be forever loved by his dear wife Karen (MacDonald), and their children Lucas (Danielle), Melissa (Dennis), and Travis (Gail). He was also a proud grampy to Jack and Amelia.
Gary is deeply missed by his siblings Cleo, Kenny (Agnes), Polly (Norbie), Blaine (Anne Marie), Audrey, Tania, Debbie (DJ), Kevin (Noella), Glen (Mary), Sandra (Genna), and by his mother-in-law Helen, sister-in- law Joanne (Gerard), brothers-in-law Boyde and Bernard (Jenn), and will be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.
If you knew Gary, you knew him for his kindness, generosity, strong work ethic and dedication to his family and friends. He had a great love for music, especially Bluegrass Music. For Gary, music brought people together. If there was a benefit happening in the community, Gary would be there, on the stage, ready to play along with any song or tune. Gary was an avid nature enthusiast and would spend time just walking in the woods. He cherished time with their horses, attending horse shows & fairs, camping, and tractors, and found immense happiness in the company of his grandchildren, Jack, and Amelia, whether at home, outside on the farm or cheering them on at the hockey rink. Gary’s strong bond with his AA family provided him with a sense of belonging and peace, reflecting the depth of his character and commitment to others.
Predeceased by his father Lorne, mother Lily, infant sister Mary, father-in-law Earl, sisters-in-law Stacy and Bertha, and brothers-in-law Ernest and Andy.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the Bay Fortune United Church on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 2:00pm with interment to follow in the Bay Fortune United Church Cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Gary can be made to Bay Fortune United Church Cemetery Fund or Souris Volunteer Firefighters Association.
