1930-2024
The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his family at
the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, August 29, 2024, of John
Joseph MacDonald of Charlottetown and Cable Head, in his 95th
year.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Donna MacDonald
(Chisholm). Dear father of Charlotte MacDonald-Allan, Heather
MacMillan (Robert), Marilyn Yeo (David) and Bart MacDonald (deceased).
Loving and proud Poppy of Chance Conrad (Laura), Bart Allan (Curtis
Nolte), Katie Allan (Gabriel Pintal-Godin), Lesley and Brodie
MacMillan, Jada (Bradley Gallant) and Julia Yeo. Great Poppy of Athena
and Giancarlo Conrad. John is also lovingly remembered by his sisters
Mary MacDonald (Owen deceased) and Ann Larkin (Wencil deceased) and
numerous nieces and nephews.
John had a lengthy teaching
career, starting in a one room schoolhouse and moving on to teach in
several schools including St. Jeans, Central Queens and Glen Stewart.
Subsequently he spent numerous years in the board office, retiring in
1992. He touched many lives in his teaching career, and it was not
unusual for him to be recognized by former students and colleagues who
always thanked him for the motivation and kindness he provided.
Thanks to the nurses and staff of the EMS, Emergency Department,
Unit 8 and Unit 3 as well as Dr. Champion, Dr. Neily, Dr. Cuniffe and
Dr. Scales for their kindness and compassion while caring for John.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3rd from 4-7 pm. Funeral service
will take place on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:30 am at the St.
Peters Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow in St. Peters Roman
Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations
to the St. Peters Roman Catholic Cemetery fund or a charity of your
