The death occurred at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on
Thursday, April 18, 2024, of Laura Louise Getson, beloved wife of the
late Norman Getson, formerly of Central Kildare, age 86 years. Born on
August 19, 1938, in Apple River, NS, she was the daughter of the late
Angus and Elizabetth (nee Patterson) McCuspey.
Loving mother to David (Darlene) Getson, and Valerie (David)
Ramsay. Cherished grandmother to Logan (Maddy), Lindsey
(Dom), and Brittany (Kevin). Great-grandmother to Morgan, Sophia,
Bennet, Decan, Liam, and Isaac. Dear sister to Roderick McCuspey,
Sharon (Peter) Gordon, and Brian (Blanche) McCuspey. She is also
survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Elva Getson, Marion
Blackburn, Aldona Rayner, Elsie Blackburn, LeRoy Hiltz, James Hall,
and Ethel Follington.
She was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Violet
(late Wilbert) Gaudette, Gerald Blackburn, Percy Getson, Doug Getson,
Sidney Getson, Florence Hall, Edna Hiltz, and James
Follington.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton.
Visiting hours Friday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday, April 20th
from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel, for funeral service at 2:00
p.m., Rev. Anne Bush officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials to a charity of your
choice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
The Tignish Branch of the Royal Canadian Ladies Auxilliary
will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:45
p.m.
