Daran Clark Obituary
Daran Clark passed away suddenly on Friday, Aug 16 at around 6pm. It has been a shock to all who knew him. He is survived by his partner Karine Simard, their children Antoine and Sophie; his parents Sandy and Dennis Clark, his sister Robyn (Craig) and his brother Jay (Luda) and his brother Mike as well as his daughter Alayna and several nieces and nephews.
Daran was born December 26, 1974 and raised in the Smithers area with his parents, Dennis and Sandy Clark, his older sister Robyn and younger brother Jay. Daran was competitive in sports and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Daran experienced some real challenges in life and persevered to be a happy father and loving partner with whom they built a beautiful life in rural Telkwa. After a near death biking accident in Daran’s early teens he came back to learn to walk, talk and finished high school. He worked hard at school, obtained his forest tech diploma, worked in the drilling industry, became a barber and opened a shop in Smithers and started to build a life. He gave up barbering to become a full time Dad, this was the best job he ever had.
I kept in touch with my brother and saw him just 2 months ago passing through town. He was happy, thoughtful and caring. It saddens me greatly to be writing this but in his last days I know he was right where he was supposed to be and enjoying the greatest gift this world can give, his kids and his family. He was an amazing dad.
Rest well big brother, we love you.
Daran was loved as a brother to his sister, Robyn, and an uncle to her boys, Clark and Bon. The fondest memories growing up with Daran were the adventures they had as three siblings on Raymond Road, heading out into the wilderness, finding wild strawberries and whatever mischief they could get up to, including taunting a bull in a field with a red scarf and riding our BMXs to Lucky 7 for candy. He had an unwavering patience with children that they always sensed. There were no mistakes, just learning experiences. He sense of adventure and passion for the outdoors are cherished by his nephews. A visit to Uncle Daran’s was always a highlight of a trip to Smithers.
There is a service planned for August 28 at 2 pm; St James Anglican Church Smithers BC
