John Kamper Obituary
John Peter Kamper passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
He was born in Graz, Austria, on April 29, 1933. He had a short career as a Police Officer before immigrating to Canada in 1954 with close family friends.
After 2 years in Winnipeg, he came to BC. He was a kind gentle man with a ready smile, making friends easily, which was a great asset working in the hospitality industry. He started work in the Arctic Club, then at the Cave Supper Club tending bar and occasionally maitre’d, to managing the Lulu Belle Restaurant, he retired as restaurant manager from The Bavarian Room on Broadway in Vancouver.
While in Canada he made numerous trips to Austria, visiting friends and family. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, skiing, hikes in the woods, and gardening, as well as driving his convertible.
Peter made Summerland his home for the last 21 years. He still enjoyed working in the garden as well as socializing with family and friends over a glass of beer or wine. He will be greatly missed by his extended family as well as old and new friends.
There will be a private family gathering to spread Peter’s ashes as per his wish.
