Margaret Wilson (nee Macnaughton)
It is with great sadness to announce that Margaret (Meg) Wilson passed away peacefully at home on September 9, supported by family.
Born in Aberfeldy, Scotland, in 1930, Meg first came to Canada as a “War Guest” in 1940 with her mother, three siblings, Aunt, and three cousins.
In Toronto, she attended Hillcrest Junior PS and Oakwood Collegiate before returning to Scotland in 1944 to complete high school and her University of Edinburgh degree.
Meg immigrated to Canada in 1954 where she met and married Roger Wilson in 1963. Together they raised three children, Martha, David, and Duncan. A lifelong traveler and lover of the outdoors, Meg was a sailor, a fierce tennis player, and a founding member of the Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario. She skied with family for close to 60 winters. She was also a proud member of the Toronto Island Community where she lived across seven decades. Meg enjoyed spending time on the Island with their six grandchildren, Lautaro, Symon, Matthew, Cian, Aidan, and Relmu. Meg spent her final years still walking daily with family in Nelson, BC.
Meg supported many organizations including Humewood House- in support of vulnerable women and children, the Waterfront Montessori School on Toronto Island, the Canadian Society for the Decorative Arts and the Canadian Red Cross in Nelson, BC.
A donation in lieu of flowers to any of these organizations would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service is being planned for late Spring, 2025, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.
