In Loving Memory of Daryl Brewster
January 28, 1952 – March 31, 2024
With sadness and much love, we regret to announce the passing of Daryl Adrian Brewster, late of Coquitlam, BC, on March 31, 2024, at the age of 72.
Daryl leaves behind a legacy cherished by his family, including his former wife Cheryl, and their sons Christopher and Kyle, brother Lee Brewster (Deborah), sister Deborah Bickford (Ron), sister-in-law Lorraine Brewster, and a multitude of friends and acquaintances. Though our hearts ache with his departure, we find solace knowing he has returned home, into God’s loving embrace and is reunited with beloved family members, including his parents George and Patricia, and brother Wayne Brewster.
Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Daryl was an adventurer at heart. In his youth, he backpacked across Europe, explored the depths of the sea through scuba diving, and soared to new heights in the skies, fueled by his passion for aviation. His love of flying was a life-long interest that included working in many locations throughout the province, as an Airline Transport Pilot, Class 1 Flight Instructor and Charter Pilot. He enjoyed making new friends and colleagues and was highly respected as a gifted instructor. He was chief pilot and operations manager for many aviation companies throughout his career, and enjoyed owning and operating his own flight schools in northern BC and the lower mainland. His success in drawing international flight students from Japan, India and other countries, brought great joy to him, and he worked hard to ensure they felt welcomed and supported in their new surroundings. After aviation, he enjoyed the camaraderie of new colleagues at Certispec Marine Services, but always made sure he kept his hand in teaching ground school and supporting new aviation start-ups with his vast knowledge and experience.
Daryl loved to cook and he was really good at it. He enjoyed scouring recipe books and modifying them for his next great culinary feat. He had a great sense of humour, loved reading books on quantum physics, and A Course in Miracles, and was gifted at classical piano. Of all the things that Daryl loved most, it was spending time with his boys, talking and laughing, with them, enjoying their company and delving deep into truly meaningful conversation.
Daryl will be remembered not only for his kind, gentle and supportive demeanor but also for the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him and enjoy flying with him. As we mourn his passing, we celebrate his spirit, warmth and wisdom. Though he left this world earlier than we wanted, he will remain forever loved in the countless lives that he touched and an example of kindness in action.
We invite you to his Celebration of Life, at 2pm on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the First United Spiritualist Church, 5584 Kincaid St, Burnaby, BC V5G 1W3. We will be creating a Memory Book in his honour, so if you have a happy memory or story you would like to contribute, but are unable to attend the service, please email to cheryl@theintuitivelife.com and they will be downloaded and added.
With many thanks, The Brewster Family.
