Ann Saukarookoff Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ann Saukarookoff on September 9, 2024 at her home at the of age of 90. Ann was born in Queenstown, Alberta, November 19, 1933 to John and Annie Planedin. She was raised on the farm and later moved to Calgary, where she met Alex and they were married in 1953.
Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alex Saukarookoff in 2019. Ann is survived by her children, Marlene (Neil), Mark (Julie), Lawrence (Pat), Cathy and Robert (LaReine); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy . Ann is also survived by her brother Eli (Cindi), her sister Pat, her brother-in-law Sid (Barb), her sister-in-law Margaret, and a cousin Ruth Williams of Arrowwood, AB. Also many nieces and nephews that were special to her.
Mom worked for 30 years in Winfield, where she was known for her dedication and hard work. After retiring, she and Alex enjoyed their trips south, soaking in the warm weather and making cherished memories.
Mom enjoyed camping, fishing, country music and a good hot dog with mustard and a cold beer alongside her kids. Always impeccably dressed, she never missed a chance for a good day of shopping especially with her sister Pat. Despite the changing times, Ann(Baba) embraced technology in her later years, learning to use her iPhone, FaceTime, and viewing photos of her great-grandchildren. Yet, nothing could replace her love for the hand-delivered photos that proudly adorned her fridge. Sports on TV were her guilty pleasure, and family visits were always scheduled around her favourite games. Ann also had a soft spot for simple pleasures, never passing up the chance to enjoy a “Buddy Burger”. Ann was known for welcoming everyone with delicious baked treats and sending them off with a bag full of goodies, and her spotless home was a reflection of the care and pride she took in everything she did.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Obedkoff, Patti, and her dear friend Doris, who all kept a watchful eye over our mom.
As requested, there will not be a service.
