It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Luigi Alois Buergstaller. He passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday Sept 24th 2024 at the age of 78, after a brave 3 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving friends and family.
Luigi came to Canada in 1975 to pursue his career as a baker and pastry chief. He met his future wife Anne Marie in Banff in 1976, where they both worked at the Banff Springs Hotel. They then found their way to Kimberley B.C. in 1979, where he worked at Super Value, later to be known as Mark Creek Market. Luigi was a baker there for over 20 years serving up bread, sweets, smiles, and jokes.
Luigi loved his family, friends, dogs, cross country skiing, and his local butcher. His infectious smile and sense of humor endeared him to all those that met him, he was an avid member of the Elk’s Hall and a staple at the meat draws.
Luigi will be deeply missed by his wife Anne Marie, his two sons Marc-lui (Natasha), Marcel (Amanda) and daughter Christiana, and six grand children, Yan, Eric, Charlotte, Connor, Leo, and Esmé.
“The king of kings will always be his constant companion”.
There will be a Funeral service held on Oct.10th, 1:30pm at the Summit Church located in Mcpherson Funeral Home in Kimberley. Also a Celebration of Life will be held on Oct 20th, 1:00pm, at River Rd. Off Highway 95A. In lieu of flower donations can be made to the SPCA.
