Richard was predeceased by his parents, Albert “Buffalo Child” Lightning & Jessie Lightning; uncle, James Lightning; aunties, Nancy LeClaire, Jenny Lightning & Madeleine Goodin; brother, Bob Anthony Lightning; traditional brothers, Robert Swampy & Gordon Lee; wife of 50 years, Madeleine Lightning; granddaughter, Rona Ivory Lightning Martineau, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Leonard Northwest, Rick (Inez) Lightning, Perry (Trudy) Lightning, Raymond Lightning; sisters, Marion Scalplock, Ruth McNabb, Jessica Lomayestewa; daughters, Gail Lightning, Angela (Gerald) Lightning, DeAnne Lightning, Jade Lightning, Ohpikihew (grandson that he raised) Talon Lightning; grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie (Sissy), Jenelle, Josh, Jess, Maskwa, Megisis, Mekwan, Utin, Ambros, George as well as 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
