Maricel Lagrimas Obituary
It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to a beloved wife, daughter, sister, auntie, grandma and friend.
Maricel Vidal Lagrimas was born on February 12, 1966, and passed away peacefully at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre on August 18, 2024. She was predeceased by her father, Amadeo Ogalesco.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Sesenio Lagrimas; their children, Shalicity Okeynan, Jayjay, Aaliyah and Kalob; mother, Julita Ogalesco; sister, Maria (Koney); brother-in-law, Ignacio (Edwin) and their children Alexandra Mae and Edrianna Mae; brother Rico and sister-in-law, Zenaida and their children, Dave, Jordan and his wife Joy, Charlene Joyce, Zedric and Jerome; her youngest sister, Rhea; aunt, Vi; uncles Rudy and Randy and his wife Marie and their three children; Jimmy and his children Jocelyn, Joan & daughter Jean, Jaime Jr., and Jheremy; cousins, Alvin, Francis, Serfin and their families in the Philippines; Pastor Ruel & Ana and their children; Samuel & Luzma and their children; Bernice & Jeff and their children, Eric and his daughter, Grace & Freddie and their son; her niece Eunice & husband Ariel and their son Max; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and grandchildren in the Philippines, Canada and Italy; her granddaughter Stella Zia (daughter of Jordan & Joy) who was born on August 17, the day before Maricel passed away; her brothers and sisters in Christ, especially at JCCF and Victorious Church where she was attending; her many friends that became family to her, and people that she met that impacted their lives because of her smile, her hospitality and her compassionate love.
Maricel was a faithful servant of God, she was still serving the Lord until her physical body gave out. She was a very helpful, selfless person, who thought of other people before herself. She possessed all the characteristics of the Bible verse Galations 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”
While she was at the hospital and was in excruciating pain, you wouldn’t hear her complain or say any negative words, but she remained grateful for every little thing and was praising God through her singing until she no longer could. She even prayed for the visitors that came to see her, and encouraged them and was still trying to fulfill her Christian duty during her last days here on earth.
We mourn her passing, yet rejoice in the assurance of that glorious reunion through Jesus Christ. As she meets our Lord and Saviour, we can already imagine how he tells Maricel “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 5:23a).
Maricel won’t be signing with us anymore, we won’t hear her beautiful voice, but we know that she’s singing and praising our Lord with the angels now in her heavenly home.
