Erich (Eric) John Fedrau
January 18, 1947 – January 29, 2024
Eric John Fedrau was born on January 18, 1947 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan and entered into rest on January 29, 2024 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 77 after a short struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Eric loved farming all his life, working in the fields and having various farm animals, especially his cows. He worked as a mechanic fixing anything and everything; he was an all-round handyman and continued to work into retirement building campers and doing construction. In his free time, he loved to hunt, fish, curl, play ball, ski, skidoo, and go flying.
Eric married his sweetheart Leanne Kijewski on January 31, 1990 at the Diamond Head Beach Park in Waikiki , Oahu, Hawaii and built their life together on their acreage in the County of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Eric was one of the most honest, generous, happy guys you’ll ever meet; he never hesitated to help anyone. When he said he would do something, he would. A gentleman’s handshake was all that was necessary. If you were his friend, you were for life.
Eric is lovingly remembered by his wife Leanne of 33 years along with their children Rae-Ann (Tyler) and Chelsea (John); his daughters Robin (James), Tammy (Darcy), Lana (Niall), and Jamie; sisters: Hilda (Art), Frieda, Elvina (Andy), brothers: Lorenz (Faye), Bill, Norman and brother Marv; sisters-in-law: Pat, Eleanor, Marlene and Judy; brothers in-law: Wayne, Darryl (Tammie) and Michael; sister in-law Wanda (Darin); grandchildren Ellie, Katrina (Amanda), Christopher, Alyssa, Matthew, Michelle, Ashley, Zachery, Zoey, and numerous great-grandchildren; his special friends Ron Cooper (Miranda Sips) and Dale Cyre (Jacqueline), along with numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.
Eric is predeceased by his parents George and Annie and brothers Richard, Heinz, and Menno.
In memory of Eric, donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospital Foundation, Canadian Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin.
