Andrea DeLeeuw Obituary
Andrea Ellanore DeLeeuw of Lacombe, Alberta, passed away on January 1, 2024, at 63 years old after a short, but admirable battle with stage 4 lung cancer.
Andrea was born on October 28, 1960, to Alphonse and Esther DeLeeuw in Bashaw, Alberta. She went on to study Education at the University of Alberta. After she graduated, she had 4 children and spent 8 years at home in addition to guest teaching. With her family she moved to Wabasca, Alberta where she taught for 19 years. She retired after 25 years of teaching. In 2020 she became an entrepreneur, creating the brand Tum-Me-Luv, which started with micro green and then went on to create Ginger Bop; the latter became very popular at farmers markets across central Alberta in the 2 years she sold Ginger Bop.
Andrea is survived by her 4 children: Mitchel Stretch (Annamaria), Robin Stretch (Cynthia), Maria Berjian (Karson), and Travis Stretch (Emily); as well as her 13 grandchildren (with one on the way). She was very proud of each and every one. Andrea was predeceased by her parents, Alphonse and Esther DeLeeuw; as well as her brothers Paul and Chris DeLeeuw.
A Prayer Service will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Bashaw, Alberta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024. The Funeral Service (full mass) will be held at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Lacombe at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024. A Memorial Reception will take place in the church hall immediately following the Funeral Service. An Interment Service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Andrea’s name may be made to The Society of the Little Flower in Niagara Falls, Ontario, an organization Andrea felt strongly about.
