Obituary
Keith Watson
August 5, 1966 – September 11, 2024
It is with sad news that we announce the passing of Keith Watson on September 11, 2024, at the AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice in Calgary, Alberta while surrounded by his family Stacey, Sheldon, and Kolten.
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Keith slipped through our fingers and went on to start his next journey. As we say farewell to a husband and a Dad, we know he will be missed and will always be in our hearts & thoughts.
Keith was born in Vermillion, Alberta to John Watson & Darlene Hunter, and was the middle child of three children. Later on, his father, John, was remarried to Elsie and gave Keith four stepbrothers and a stepsister. His mother, Darlene, also remarried brought some more siblings into Keith’s life. Don Weitlzel had four boys of his own, giving Keith a total of eight stepbrothers, one stepsister, plus his original siblings. Darlene and Don along with their kids moved from Vermillion, Alberta to Calgary, Alberta in the early 80s to raise their family.
Keith met Stacey in Calgary in 1988, where they both began to build a life and family together. They then decided to move to Sylvan Lake in 2006 to raise their two boys, Sheldon and Kolten, where they still reside today.
Keith Graduated on the Dean’s List in Aeronautical Engineering at S.A.I.T in 1992. Through his career, he was a project engineer in the construction industry and at the Red Deer College.
In 2009, he was involved in the community coaching soccer. From 2011-2014, he was also involved in the Recreation Hockey Team (Snipers). His involvement was not only as a parent, but also as a Coach for Sheldon & Kolten. He spent time coaching 2 different hockey teams for his boys. These teams ranged from ages 8-10 and 11-14. In his down time, you could find Keith fishing, camping, golfing, or playing hockey with his family.
Keith is survived by his wife Stacey Watson and his two sons Sheldon and Kolten of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; father John Watson of Vermillion, Alberta; sister Martha Mcphearson of Calgary, Alberta; brothers Darren Weitzel of Calgary, Alberta and Dana Weitzel of Calgary, Alberta; eight stepbrothers; one stepsister; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother Darlene Hunter of Drumheller in 2004, and his stepmom Elsie Watson of Vermillion, Alberta in 2022
For those that know the family, there will be a Celebration of Keith’s Life at 1:00 PM at the Chapel at Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on October 5, 2024. A time of fellowship will be had at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212, Sylvan Lake, Alberta following the Celebration of Life.
The family would like to send their heartful thanks to the Palliative team at AgeCare SkyPointe in Calgary for their caring support.
