In Loving Memory
David Charles Fawcett
1959-2023
Dave was born March 3, 1959 at Consort, Alberta. He was the youngest of three children and grew up on the family farm near Consort. Dave was predeceased by his parents Charles and Donna (McNally) Fawcett. He is survived by his sisters Lynda Fawcett (husband Dave Wilson) & Joanne Fawcett (husband Rick Momney) as well as by girlfriend Lori Hanna, many friends and extended family members.
Dave became a welder and that was his occupation for many years. Later on, he took over running the farm and continued to do some welding. He could create anything out of metal and also enjoyed crafting things from wood. He made very unique knives – forging their blades and carving their handles from beautiful pieces of wood. He liked hunting, fishing and attending gun shows. Taking his motorcycle out for a ride or hooking up his boat and heading to a lake for some fishing were a couple of his favorite pastimes. His many interests included photography and the violin. Dave really enjoyed spending time with his friends-playing cards and sharing a laugh. He enjoyed a good joke or prank. You knew things were going well when you saw that twinkle in his eye.
Dave was happiest outdoors. He loved the land and took after his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in that respect. He liked all animals but especially dogs. He had several during his lifetime, but his favorite was Jake, an easygoing Border Collie. They went everywhere together, and everyone was used to seeing Dave driving his Bronco with Jake sitting happily on the seat beside him. Jake wasn’t very good with cattle, but he was a loyal friend and companion to Dave. They were both very fond of A&W.
Dave lived in Consort for most of his life but moved to Long Term Care at Villa Marie, Red Deer in July 2022. He was admitted to Red Deer Regional Hospital on October 30th and passed away November 5th in the hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
