In Loving Memory of Myrtle Stella Ferrier
March 10, 1937 – September 11, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma. Myrtle passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 at the age of 87 years. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by daughters Lee-Ann (Wes) and Trina (Trevor), grandchildren Kurtis (Tanya), Katie (John) and great-grandchildren Tukka, Kohen, Oakley and Ethan, as well as by extended family and many friends.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 2015 and her mother, Amy, in 1991.
Myrtle was born on March 10, 1937 in Amisk, Alberta to Amy Snow. She lived the simple Amisk life until 1949 when they moved to Edmonton, where she attended at Victoria Composite High School. She pursued secretarial and stenographer studies in school, landing her first job with Muttart Construction Company. Her lifetime career began in 1961 with B. Guthrie Engineering. After several years, Myrtle joined Darrel Sutton as they branched off from the parent company to form BGE Service and Supply, now known as The Filter Shop. In 2013, she retired at the tender age of 76, after 53 years with the company. Myrt was once an enthusiastic member of the Edmonton Eskimos Cheerleader squad and the Varieties musical shows, as well as a long-time member of the ACT Edmonettes.
Growing up she was very close with her aunts, uncles and cousins, spending much of her time making long-lasting memories with them. She was married to the love of her life, Bob, for 56 years. Together, they raised their daughters, enjoyed entertaining, camping, boating and traveling. Myrtle’s greatest love was her family. She enjoyed family dinners, watching her grandchildren and recently, her great-grandchildren at their many activities. She enjoyed keeping in touch with friends via marathon phone calls or on Sundays with the Breakfast Club. Myrtle was an avid Oilers, Eskimos and Oil Kings fan, attending as many games as she could. She was never without hot tea or a smile, she loved being around people and never missed an opportunity for a good get-together.
Myrtle was tiny, but she was mighty.
