Margaret “Peggy” Shirley Watts(Risk), passed away peacefully at her home in Sherwood Park, Alberta, on May 28, 2024, at the age of 68.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Frances Risk(McGinn), step-son Michael Watts, and her siblings Joseph, Winnie, Milley, Patsy, Ricky, Frances, and Charlie.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Glen Watts, daughter Lisa Rosin and step-daughter Janet McLean(Ryan); as well as 4 beautiful grandchildren, Carter, Brady, Jack and Peyton who loved their Nana Peg so very much.
She is survived too by her brothers Archie “AJ”, Art(Gayle), Eddie and her sister Elizabeth, including so many loving nephews and nieces.
Peggy was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on July 30, 1955 and was the youngest of twelve brothers and sisters. She spent the last 40 years calling both Alberta and BC home, however, the water, beaches and colors of Nova Scotia were forever held in her heart as home.
She cherished her family, summers at the lake, travelling and hosting holiday dinners.
Among the many trips she loved so much, she most recently spent a month in Mexico with friends and family, enjoying sunny days, beautiful sun sets and dancing with her grandsons.
A favorite pastime of Peg’s was a challenging Scrabble match; no matter the opponent or score, she always considered herself the “winner”.
Of all the things she loved, by far her favorite was being a grandmother. She created a space full of games, make-believe, tea parties and playful sarcasm. She wrapped her grandkids up with hugs, unconditional love and a warmth they are blessed to have known.
Always surrounded by the best of friends, some since childhood and others met in the many places she lived, together they created a lifetime of memories and laughter. These friendships defined her and she held them tightly. The connections she’s held with so many are a testament to the person she was and what she gave to others. Those that knew her best are the luckiest of all.
Her belief in God and connection to a greater power gave her strength and comfort when she needed to reach for it.
She will forever be missed, remembered, and loved.
At Peggy’s request, a virtual celebration of life will be held in the coming months. Her family will share details as they become available. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
