John (Jack) Duane Hubbard 74, passed away on January 1, 2024. His memory will be cherished by his three daughters, son, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sons in laws, as well as his four surviving siblings. He will now rest in eternal peace with his parents Leroy and Verna, and his previously passed brother, Gary, and grandson Scott.
He was born in Ponoka, Alberta on December 15, 1949, to Leroy and Verna Hubbard, he was their fourth child of six children. He will be forever in the hearts of his surviving siblings (Ned, Bonnie, Sharilyn, and Randy).
Jack had a love for cars and therefore after the family moved to Edmonton, he attended NAIT obtaining his Journeyman Ticket as an Autobody Mechanic and becoming one of the best. He was an amazing all around, mechanic that could fix about anything put in front of him.
In the spring of 1969 he would marry Judith Demeester, the sister of his best friend, Robert (Bob). In 1972, they welcomed Daughter Tammy followed by Teresa in 1974, Michelle in 1978 and son Bradley in 1984.
Jack was loved by his family very much; he always said he measured his wealth through the smiles on his grandchildren’s faces. He was such a good person; he had a personality that was larger than life and would draw people to him. He was always there to help whoever needed it and usually doing so with a smile and joke. His infectious laughter will sing in our hearts forever.
Our family would like to thank the staff at both the Royal Alexandra and University of Alberta hospitals for their efforts and commitment to his health as well as Dr. Kenneth Rohachuck for the many years he took care of him as his family physician. We would also like to thank the staff at the Gerald Zetter Care Centre for keeping him happy and comfortable in his final weeks.
A service will be held at the Strathcona Community Hall (10139-87 Avenue) on Saturday January 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
