Glen Edward Gibbs – June 23, 1934 – December 25, 2023
Our much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle found peace on Christmas Day at the age of 89.
Glen was a gentle, unassuming, and kind man, the eldest of six children born to Marjorie and Clarence Gibbs in Edmonton, where he and Diane, wife of almost 55 years, raised their family. Later in life they retired to their lake home Glen built, and most recently moved to St. Albert. He was a gifted and extremely patient planner, builder, and gardener.
Family was his first passion, followed closely by his love of Lake life and hockey. Glen spent a lifetime of summers enjoying waterskiing, boating, and even a little relaxation; the views never got old for him. Winters were spent playing hockey right up until the age of 85 with a wonderful group of friends who helped to keep him active and happy. We thank the members of the Vintage hockey club for that.
Glen is survived by his wife, Diane, and daughters, Chandra (Kevin) John and Larissa (Bill) Love- and grandchildren Jenae and Danika, Ruby and Hunter, as well as his siblings, Ray (Shirley), Alan (Cathy),and Linda Goodrich, and brother-in-law, Glenn (Jacquie) Rutherford. He was pre-deceased by his sister Lois (Mel)Wentworth, and his brother Clifford.
A casual celebration of Glen’s life will be held for family and friends in the spring, date to be determined.
