Shauna Marie Kennedy Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear daughter, Shawna Marie Kennedy, on October 28, 2024, at the young age of 53. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, on May 6, 1971, she grew up on an acreage south of Okotoks, Alberta, surrounded by an assortment of farm animals. She especially enjoyed her horse, Panoka.
After graduating from Alberta College of Arts, she was an active member of the arts society in Calgary. Eventually, she moved to Montreal, Canada, where she resided and gave birth to her children, Lucien Chavez and Theo Chavez. Upon the diagnosis of breast cancer, she returned to Alberta, where she had family support.
Shawna was a dedicated member of the McDougall Church, serving as the communications coordinator and actively participating in the community’s witness to reconciliation on our rights relations outreach group. Her work and presence will be deeply missed. Shawna Kennedy is survived by her loving family, including her parents, Alvin and Mary Kennedy, brother, David Kennedy, and children, Lucien Chavez and Theo Chavez, along with numerous Aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Dr. Nirma, Alimohamed, and Dr. Michelle Cunningham for their unwavering support and exceptional care of Shawna.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer society.
