Linda met Patrick when she was living in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba when her father was stationed in the military there. Patrick’s father was also a military man. They were married on April 10, 1961, at the ages of 17 & 19. After Linda and Patrick were married, they migrated west with stopovers in Estevan, and Regina before eventually ending up in Calgary. During their migration westward, they had five male offspring in less than 6 years. Their third son John died of S. I. D. S. At the age of three months. In 1969, Linda and Pat purchased their first home in the community of Ramsay, where their boys grew up. In 1977, they moved to a new home in the community of Whitehorn. In 1981, with eldest son Stephan off to the military, and son Jeffery working in Calgary, Pat was transferred to Medicine Hat. Harvey and Kelly went to middle and secondary school in Medicine Hat. Again in 1987, Pat was transferred, this time to Edmonton. Linda and Pat lived in Edmonton until 1997 when they retired back to Medicine Hat.
Linda worked in healthcare as a unit clerk for most of her professional life. She enjoyed knitting, calligraphy, and bingo. Mostly, she enjoyed family time, such as many camping trips with Peggy and David Griffin and her family when they lived in Calgary. Linda also cherished her and Pat’s lifelong friendship with Lois and Bob Middleditch with whom they played cards and travelled with to many tropical locales. They took many trips to Manitoba in the summertime to reconnect with Pat’s extended family, which engendered many fond memories for Linda. In retirement, Linda and Pat rekindled their enjoyment of camping. They also joined a square dancing group in Medicine Hat. They also loved spending time with and spoiling their grandchildren. Linda was a member of the “Red Hat Society”, and continued to participate in their activities after Pat, the love of her life passed away in 2004.
Linda’s family would like to offer their gratitude to the staff at Riverview Care Center in Medicine Hat for the many years of excellent care they provided to Linda.
A private time of remembrance honouring Linda’s life will be held at a future date.
